Visa, Chase offer mobile deals for retail goods
Visa Inc. and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. are teaming up on a pilot program in Phoenix that delivers personalized text-message coupons from retailers to consumers’ cell phones. The offers are redeemable in stores or online.
The program, targeting primarily consumers in the 18-34 age group, lets Chase Visa credit or debit card holders sign up to receive particular types of offers from particular merchants. Merchants participating in the program include Chico’s FAS Inc., Macy’s Inc., Old Navy, Papa John’s Pizza and Circle K Stores Inc.
The program will also send offers to baseball fans while they’re attending games of the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team at Chase Field in Phoenix. The program uses Visa’s Mobile Platform for connecting consumers with banks, merchants and mobile operators.
"Chase is always looking for new, innovative ways to reward cardholders and enhance the consumer payment experience," said Eileen Serra, Chase Card Services executive. "We`re using leading technology to deliver compelling offers from top merchants directly to consumers` mobile devices, and at the same time, helping to increase spending and create greater loyalty for merchants participating in the trial."
