Newegg cracks open a Canadian web site

Lots of online retailers these days are looking to foreign sales as way to offset the soft U.S. market. Newegg.com, No. 10 in the , is joining them by expanding into Canada, with a new domain, Newegg.ca.

Newegg.ca will display prices in Canadian currency. The company says it is taking a phased approach to its Canadian operation and will start out using its U.S. facilities for both fulfillment and customer service. It says it is evaluating other options, including distribution partnerships and a Canadian fulfillment center.

Newegg, which was started in 2001, also reports that it recently served its 10 millionth customer.
