CA becomes latest AV firm to join name game with the announcement of its new divisionFirst there was Kaspersky Lab and ICSA Labs, then camealong MessageLabs and SophosLabs. Now CA has becomethe latest AV firm to join the party with the announcement ofits new division 'dedicated to promoting and performingadvanced research in systems management and security forthe enterprise', CA Labs. Presumably the inclusion of theword 'lab' or 'labs' in a company's name is intended to lendweight and signify the company/division's dedication toserious research.Unfortunately from an onlooker's point ofview it seems more of a case of copycat tactics or else aserious lack of imagination. One wonders whether there isany better way of adding prestige to your AV company’sname. Send your suggestions on a postcard...
