Laplink's$35 DoubleView Provides Multiple Monitors

Laplink Software on Wednesday launched a $35 program that uses a second, even obsolete, desktop or to boost the dimensions of a primary PC's display.

Rather than spring for a second or one capable of handling two monitors, and perhaps another display as well, Laplink argued that its new DoubleView utility can save hundreds of dollars, but still expand Windows' screen real estate.

"Anyone can transform an old, unused PC into more space for their primary workstation," said Todd Rupley, a Laplink vice president, in a statement. "Or they can use a spare laptop to double their desktop screen real estate."

After installing DoubleView on both PCs, then connecting them with a or (IEEE 1394) cable, or via a cabled or wireless network connection, the screen of the second PC acts as an of the primary PC's display.
